What is anti-money laundering (AML) and why do you have to do it?

Money laundering is the term given to making money gained through immoral or illegal activity harder for the authorities to trace by placing the money into a legal vehicle.

As an FCA regulated company, we are required to carry out Anti-Money Laundering (AML) due diligence on all Liberty SIPP members and any unregulated person/company from whom we will be receiving or paying money to, so that we can check the funds have been obtained or invested legally.

This check will automatically be done using information you have inputted when you complete the online application.

You will be verified against independent references and government agencies.

We may need further evidence if we are unable to satisfactorily verify your identity electronically.

Please note the value of investments, and any income from them can go down as well as up and you may not get back your original investment. We do not offer advice about the suitability of our products or any investments held within them. Should you require financial advice you should consult a suitably qualified financial adviser
