Ian Currie
Founding Director and majority shareholder

Founding Director and majority shareholder in Liberty, Ian qualified as a chartered accountant in 1986 with KPMG and has been involved in corporate finance with Peel Hunt & Co, Apax Partners & Co and Altium Capital. He co-founded Zeus Group and at the point of demerger in 2010, the Group had over £350m of assets in a variety of businesses, including corporate finance, private equity, stockbroking and pension administration. Ian sits on the Board of Hedley & Co Stockbrokers, is a partner of Palatine Private Equity LLP and is on the Board of Trustees for the Lowry Arts Centre in Manchester.

 

John Fox
Founding Director and shareholder

Founding Director and shareholder in Liberty SIPP, prior to entering the pension world John gained extensive administrative experience and specialised in the introduction of ISO 9000 / BS5750 quality systems at a number of firms. John uses his previous experience to develop systems and controls to ensure that Liberty meet the expectations of its regulators and exceeds those of their customers. John's opinions on developments within the pension market are regularly sought by the financial press and he is widely quoted in many high profile pension publications. John has a BA (hons) in Modern History and an MBA.

 

Julie Dean
Financial Director

Julie joined the board as Financial Director in April 2010. Julie qualified as an Accountant in 2000 and has experience of establishing and running commercial operations both in the UK and abroad and has experience in all elements required of a finance function for both private and listed organisations. Julie is also FD at Frenkel Topping an AIM listed and FCA regulated company which specialises in providing support and investment advice, both pre and post settlement, for those involved in Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence claims.

 

Michael Taylor
Non-Executive Director

Michael has been a non-executive director of Liberty since 2013 and works as External Affairs Advisor at Manchester Metropolitan University alongside the Vice-Chancellor Malcolm Press and the Chancellor Lord Mandelson on initiatives to make the University the best connected in the country. These include high level business engagement and projects around Greater Manchester Devolution and the Northern Powerhouse. Previously an award winning business journalist and editor, he co-founded the Discuss debate forum in 2013 and has facilitated many strategic business projects for commercial clients including Deloitte, KPMG, Seneca, Daisy Group and the Institute of Chartered Accountants England and Wales. He is also a non-executive director of New Charter Group, a leading housing association in Greater Manchester and a trustee of their Great Neighbourhoods charity.

 

Matthew Rankine
Sales Director

Through his excellent communication, business development and product development skills, he has helped Liberty become one of the fastest growing SIPP companies in the Market. He was instrumental when creating the Liberty Option SIPP which is slowly becoming one of the most popular SIPP products within the financial adviser community.
